Gangers Movie Review

Gangers is a Sundar C. film featuring Vadivelu in a long-awaited comeback. Unfortunately, like his previous attempts over the past decade, this one also fails to make an impact.

Sundar C’s earlier film Vaada featured Vivek playing a character reminiscent of Mr. Radha — a performance that, while part of a flop movie, still gained some recognition. In Gangers, it feels like they tried to replicate that formula with Vadivelu’s character, but it simply doesn’t work. Most of the jokes fall flat, and many of the counter dialogues feel less like genuine humor and more like obligatory punchlines that don’t land.

To his credit, Sundar C has, over the years, mastered a formula for churning out commercially successful entertainers, often packed with comedians and light-hearted fun. However, Gangers struggles to deliver even that. The first half is painfully predictable, reusing scenes and setups from his earlier films without any fresh twist.

The only saving grace is the final 50-minute heist sequence, which injects some life into an otherwise dull experience. There are nods to Madha Gaja Raja and Anbe Sivam, and even a cheeky symbolic reference to Vishal and his online image — but with barely anyone in the theater, these moments don't get the reaction they’re clearly aiming for.

There just isn’t enough here to justify a longer review. Simply put, Gangers is a bad watch — dull, dated, and disappointing.
