Kadhallika Neramillai movie Review

The movie Kadhalikka Neramillai, directed by Krithika Udhayanidhi, initially gave off strong OK Kanmani vibes based on its trailer. This impression likely stems from Nithya Menon's presence, Rahman's music, and a storyline hinting at casual relationships. However, after watching the movie, it becomes evident that it diverges significantly, with its core plot drawing inspiration from Jennifer Aniston's The Switch. While The Switch is a well-made film, Kadhalikka Neramillai falls short of achieving the same quality.

Although technically well-shot, the movie struggles with a disjointed plot. Key scenes driving the screenplay feel artifically concieved(just like the kid in the movie 😜). For instance, the protagonist's decision to freeze his sperm just to accompany a friend seems far-fetched, considering how expensive the procedure is. It’s unclear whether the protagonist is extremely wealthy or simply reckless. Moreover, the mishandling of the sperm sample is implausible.JR provides a fake name and address for the procedure, raising questions about how he planned to retrieve it in the first place. To make matters worse, the fake address turns out to be a bar, where JR conveniently happens to be when Nithya Menon's character arrives. These aren’t minor details; they are pivotal to the plot and undermine its believability.

The title, Kadhalikka Neramillai, feels mismatched, adding to the film’s shortcomings. A decade from now, viewers might recall it as the JR-Nithya Menon movie, but the title itself is unlikely to leave a lasting impression. On the positive side, the absence of fight scenes and the inclusion of some LGBTQ+ representation are commendable. Yogi Babu’s limited screen time is utilized effectively, and he delivers whenever he appears. The background score is outstanding at certain moments, though the songs are not particularly memorable.

Overall, Kadhalikka Neramillai is a decent one-time casual watch but lacks the coherence and impact to be considered a standout film.
