Perusu Movie Review
There are very few adult comedies in Tamil cinema, and most of them either rely on scenes lifted from English adult comedies or merely revolve around discussing taboo topics and using cuss words. They can hardly be called comedies—more like soft-core content disguised as humor. Fortunately, Perusu breaks away from this trend and qualifies as a genuine adult comedy. It holds up well (pun intended) and keeps the audience entertained throughout its runtime while maintaining a reasonable level of subtlety.
The trailer effectively conveys the film’s premise, but the real challenge was to keep the audience engaged—and it succeeds. The movie features plenty of situational comedy from all the actors, leading to continuous laughter in the theater. Vaibhav and his real-life brother playing on-screen siblings worked well. Niharika has minimal screen time, with only one dialogue as far as I recall. Munishkanth, Bala Saravanan, Deepa Shankar, and Lollu Sabha Swaminathan all contribute significantly to the film’s humor, while VTV Ganesh appears in a single scene, but it leaves an impact. Overall, the film gives the experience of watching a well-executed stage play.
